My creative life is oriented toward solving problems. For me, creating something that is merely beautiful feels like a half-completed journey. The most powerful art and design surpass the aesthetic; they do real work. In my professional experience, the best solutions are frequently the most elegant and the most pleasing to see and interact with. Beauty and practicality multiply and reinforce one another. As a UX designer, I feel that I am always evolving toward this ideal.
When I'm not collaborating with others to build interesting things, you can find me spending time with my wife and son, enjoying the natural wonders of Washington State, or just spending time in our Seattle home. I am also an inveterate geek, obsessed with all things sci-fi and fantasy-related. And there are few things I like better than a long night of board games with close friends.
